Ambrose, of course, begs to differ, but only slightly.
"Yeah, if you do long slow exercise, you'll burn more fat than short hard exercise ... but you should do long hard exercise!"

ie, Y minutes of walking burns more fat than Y/2 minutes of running, but running for 2*Y minutes will burn more fat than Y minutes of walking, and though it may then slow your metabolism down immediately afterwards, over the long term it will boost your metabolism more effectively.

But then he's a man obsessed :)

And to give him his due, there are very few fat marathon runners.
