He does agree with the not counting every calorie. He's big on breakfast, and recommends eating generally "until you're satisfied", rather than "until you're uncomfortable". Beyond that, he recommends protein and vegetables rather than sugar and carbs, and certainly not snacking on sugars/carbs.

But yeah, he's not big on "dieting" per se.

And his definition of "hard" exercise may not be that extreme anyway - he's starting to talk about me jogging rather than walking, but thus far it's all been (strenuous) walking, and certainly no serious running.

Interestingly, though, current gym theory seems to be that "circuit" training is the way to go, as well as straight walking/bike style cardio. Circuits seem to be a short series of four or five exercises, each done fairly hard but targeting a different area - pushups + squats + ab crunches + benchpress, for example, done as 3 or 4 short sets with no rest between the exercises, and a minute or two between sets. But then I'm not sure if that's to target "weight loss" or to build strength/"fitness". Thoughts?
