Oh right. :-) Yeah - Shogun Metro is what we have - the halfway house "commuter" bike thing, not electrically assisted. We paid $550 for the bike itself. That seems to be about "midrange" - $350 is the cheap-and-nasty end, $750 is the expensive end.
Reversed brakes? Shouldn't be too hard to just reattach the brake levers to whichever side you want, I'm guessing, unless the levers themselves won't go upside down? Best to stick to the default for the side you're riding on, I expect, so rear brake on kerb-side (presumably so you can wave your outer arm to signal whilst braking).
