Klory To Kod, y'see, is how one has to sing "Glory To God", if you don't want it to sound like "lory to lod"...

Strange insights into the mental state of choristers aside, Melbourne University Choral Society and Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Society are performing Handel's Messiah (containing, of course, the above Glory to God chorus, along with other such mildly famous choruses as the Hallelujah chorus, and a bundle of neato-fun bits for the soloists) with Mozart's orchestration.

For those that remember the last time I sang Messiah with MUCS, the last one was the mostly original Handel style orchestration, quite early baroque, quite close to French overture boppy style... Mozart's orchestration is, as they say in the ads, Bigger! Bolder! Brighter! Err, except that Mozart hates trumpets, so it's trombones ahoy, but I guess we can forgive that.

Oh, and yes, the Melbourne Town Hall Organ will definitely be playing. So if you like the sound of hundreds of giant pipes all pumping away, well, this is definitely the concert to come to.

Anyways, if you want tickets and more details, see [livejournal.com profile] seedy_girl's post on Handel's Messiah tickets and contact either her or myself (post here, or in her post, or email to either of us) to arrange to purchase them.

Do get in quick, the concert will sell out in fairly short order. Ticket sales from us will close by 10th December, and it is very likely that Ticketek will sell out also around then... so if you're at all interested, pre buy them now.
