[livejournal.com profile] morganjaffit? You wanted walking robots? This is seriously cool stuff. 5 metre tall bipedal robot, built by a retired Mini engineer. The scariest video is the one of it actually catching and stopping a fast moving (I think it was doing 20 to 40 km/h!) rover. As in, lean in, grab the bull bar and the roof, and stop it dead, without falling over. Holy moly. That plus the following sentence... "I've had offers of assistance, but ethically they involved applications that I'm not comfortable with." Hooray for ethical engineers! Anyway, go check it out. (Edit: Forgot to mention, you probably need Quicktime installed.) (Edit: Damn, it's a hoax.)

Kinda looks like a Transformer.

Which is pretty much along the lines of how I'd design a Giant Robot.

Yes, there were too many human-like extraneous movements in that car capture.

But even as a big puppet, being remote controlled by a guy in a motion capture suit - it's still pretty good!
