*nod* Anyone who knows me knows I'm a very long way from being a humourless fellow. :-) I've been known to make some pretty sarcastic jokes, and been the butt of others, and taken them in good humour.
The thing is, there's a very very big difference between careful joking around between people that really know each other well and have a long established relationship, and jokes in a public space made of someone you don't know.
Exactly the same action will earn you a chuckle from your friend in the one context, and a punch in the nose from a stranger in the other.
