The People's Republic of Thorfinn

  • UN Category: Capitalist Paradise
  • Civil Rights: Very Good
  • Economy: Very Strong
  • Political Freedoms: Average

The People's Republic of Thorfinn is a enormous, safe nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its compassionate, hard-working population of 782 million are either ruled by a small, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Social Equality and Social Welfare are secondary priorities. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 53%. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Book Publishing.

Euthanasia is legal, organ donation is compulsory, the mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas, and the government is avowedly atheist. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Thorfinn's national animal is the viking, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the credit.

Heh. I'm a capitalist paradise in which private enterprise is illegal... Gotta love it. :-) Apparently this is what happens if you change your mind with the issues. I think I'm going to have to try and make my nation a most contradictory nation now...

*chuckle* My nation Gothitopia (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=gothitopia) has the following - "organ donation is compulsory, and organ donation rates have hit a new low." Hehehe, I wasn't even being contradictory. I approved the harvesting of organs with or without pre-death approval of the deceased, but opposed allowing hospitals to offer money for organ donations.

I've gotten slighty bored with nationstates - now its just asking the same questions over and over i'm begining to change my answers away from my idealistic world view and seeing what happens :)
