MIFF!ed and Mac!ed
2004-Jul-19, Monday 23:06Well, been a long time since I posted... or read, actually, for that matter. Been rather busy. Still, BlueBox Technology being official Apple Development Partners is very very nice... I'm sitting in my living room, typing away on my shiny 15" Powerbook with all the options, on loan from Apple Computer, Inc, via my shiny new wireless network, involving a D-Link router I just bought and the happiness that is Airport.
This post is made entirely without wires... Not even the power cable is plugged in. :-). Also, it's been a lot of fun... the only reason I stopped being a Mac person (around 1997 or so) is because I became a Unix person instead... and now, I get to be both on the same machine. Makes me happy.
Aaanyway! On to the next point... Our schedule for Melbourne International Film Festival is as follows:
Well... will see some of you at some sessions, others at others, and no doubt just randomly out and about between stuff.

Date: 2004-07-19 18:57 (UTC)Are you sharing an internet connection with multiple computers via wires at the moment? If not, that's the trick... You need a home network, or something that will do the connection-sharing type stuff.
There are "Wireless Routers" (which do the NAT/connection sharing fu), but they generally talk to DSL or Cable Modems, not PSTN modems...
Also, you really want to use the WAP-PSK (Wireless Access Protocol Personal Shared Key) security protocol... it's the easiest to configure and use, of all the various wireless encryption schemes, and seems to be the latest and greatest thing.
