Need a public toilet anywhere in Australia? Well, look no further than The National Public Toilet Map (A Project of the National Continence Management Strategy). I love the Intarweb.

On a completely separate note... MUCS is doing the Daffodil Day Concert again this year. What to do after last year's Mozart Requiem? Well, the Andrew Lloyd Webber Requiem, of course. Before y'all flinch, it's actually really quite good. It flits between a whole bunch of different musical styles, and manages to be quite entertaining whilst doing so. It's not "high art", but nobody should be surprised at that coming from Lloyd Webber.

Adult tickets from the choir (i.e., me or [livejournal.com profile] seedy_girl or [livejournal.com profile] sajee or [livejournal.com profile] esso or other such mad individuals) are AU$32 for adult, AU$25 for concession. A bit pricey, but it is a charity concert... Just to note, it's charity in the sense that most of the profit from the concert (assuming it makes profit, which it should) goes to the The Cancer Council Victoria. If it makes no profit, then Independent Classics wears the loss. Most of the performers are taking a fee which is a fraction of their normal fees, and Lord Lloyd Webber has waived the performance rights fee entirely, which is also nice.

We're also doing a couple of other works in the first half, including a newly commissioned piece called "At The End Of The Stars", which is a setting of a Lorca poem entitled "fin". That's really good too.

Anyway, if you want to come along, leave a comment here, or email me or suchlike.

I was at a mapping confrence where I got to meet the guys that did the The National Public Toilet Map. The who project is designed for use by people with bladder problems, small kids, elderly folk and even making long trips to unknown parts.
The mapping was all transfered to a GIS and produced for public display. Great community service.

Never quite looked at it in that way but yes I suppose we could include a table in the data set that had a "potential for pickup" indicy.
What would you call it? PPPP (Pickig-up at Public Peeing Places) prehaps

Funny thing is, M. and I were driving around SF looking at public toilets last night! The self-cleaning, self-contained kind. Nice timing.

I love the Webber Requiem!! Pie Jesu was actually a showpiece in my repertoire before I transmigrated to mezzo-ness...
What a pity I live on the other side of the world.. I'd sure come and listen to it!
