  • You step off the airplane onto the concourse, to the sight of poker machines.
  • Your hotel doorman tells you he can get you a free limo to the strip club, and $25 worth of free drinks for everyone.
  • You start to think that finding a Vegas Showgirl Experience might be a good idea.
  • You've decided that catching a cab to your hotel, which is a five minute walk, is a better idea than attempting to cross The Strip.
  • Regarding the sky: My god! It's empty of stars!
  • You feel like you're camped in an amusement park.
  • The noise of poker machines is easily filtered out by your brain.
  • Shiny chandeliers bore you.
  • Nuclear hand grenades genuinely feel like a good idea.
  • You have Blue Man Group "Poncho Row" tickets.

Whee. :-) So, yes, I'm at CES. Booth 54109, in the Australian Trade Commission pavilion, which appears to be next to the Danish pavilion. Not much to report, apart from things are going well, spoken to tons of people, had lots of fun. The fresh new company website is at http://www.blueboxdevices.com/ but it doesn't talk too much about our product range. We'll be updating that after we're back in .au.

When you can't throw them more than five feet away...

The US have already created rocket propelled nuclear devices (with a 6kt yield)

I'd warrant that a hand-grenade sized nuclear weapon would have maybe 1kt? give or take. ;) How big could that possibly be?

I believe that backback nukes (as carted around by US military in Vietnam) had a yield of .5 to 1KT.

Still, that's an explosion that's bigger than a breadbox.

and weigh in the ballpark of 50lbs? its pretty heavy to just throw around. the rocket propelled nuke I was thinking of is 11 inches in diameter, and about 2m long (looked man portable to me)

I would venture to add - You see Elvis, both young and spunky and fat and old walking down the Strip.

Whee! A flash website that doesn't work for me. Ah well.

Have fun in Vegas, don't get caught cardcounting. Or shifting time to win at poker.

Row C, seats 44 and 45. We can show you the tickets. That have been "autographed" by one of the Blue Men. And my copy of one of their CDs, also "autographed". And I got you a poncho as a souvenier. =)

  1. Awesome.
  2. Are you aware that one of my favourite novels is the Doctor Who TV tie-in Blue Box, by Australian author Kate Orman? Had to believe no-one had thought to connect the phreaking term to a certain Police Public Call Box before...
  3. You might need to get someone to copyedit that second paragraph on the home page again; a single "as" in the right place would make it all the more readable.

Don't worry - I'm in the process of proofing it currently. We just needed to get it up quickly before the trade show :)

We flew over Vegas on a work trip a couple of years back. It was at night, and it was a huge beacon of neon in the dark, visible from a great distance and a great height. Just the thing if you wanted to lob nukes from a distance.

Further, even before that, it's full of pukes a couple of characters of unreadableness at you without javashit turned on. Ick. Obviously far too cool for usability.
