Asociality...
2002-Jul-30, Tuesday 20:16Hrm. Okay. Some of you may have noticed that I have been only semi-funct in a social sense for quite some time now. This is intentional on my part.
The biggest reason (not the sole one, but definitely the biggest one) for this is that I'm engaged in probably the most challenging thing I've done, career-wise, ever. I'm in the midst of changing HRS's IT culture from something run by one overly competent ubergeek (not me, someone else!) with a planning horizon of about two days, to something that is scaleable, flexible, and robust, and expected to function with a planning horizon of ten years. This isn't a trivial task, and it's taking up most of my brain, and an awfully high proportion of my social-energy.
By all means, however, people should feel free to bang me on the head, and say, "come to this!" though. Eventually, I'll be back and involved in the social-loop, but for the nonce, my social-stuff-caring is mostly turned off.
